Being in the zone

I was at it again! Yesterday only I had reminded myself that I would assert with conviction always and all ways. But lo! Here I was unable to put my point across when it was needed. Of course, it was not a question of life and death where I was expected to put my foot down lest I shouldn’t have been writing this! It was just a routine matter but yes, every moment, which helps boost our confidence must count. After all, no Tendulkar can lower his guard even for one ball. His alacrity and alertness, balls after balls, take him into the zone where he rules the roost.
It’s a ball, a moment. Both small. Small things indeed make a big difference. Being all alert and making the most of every moment can be a turning point while lowering guard even for a moment could be a breaking point. Lapse in concentration even for a second gets the best of the batsmen out. Each ball counts since together, these balls build innings.
On the life’s field also, we need to play moment by moment. Cautiously. Even a slip can make us miss a golden opportunity.
What is this alertness? It’s keeping our word and fulfilling promices we make to ourselves. This alertness is our conscience. It’s a constant reminder of our aims, dreams and goals; things we live for. When Tendulkar is in the zone, he is focusing only on the ball and nothing else. He is aware of the promice he has made to himself. He also knows where he had erred before and the focus is not repeating the mistakes come what may.
A strong insistence on attentiveness is needed because we never know which moment would challenge our abilities. We have to be watchful enough not to repeat past mistakes. We cannot afford to go lax. Our level of alertness is symptomatic of our genuineness, honesty and integrity. How can we forget our promices to ourselves? If we do, they were all hollow, mere high-sounding phrases. Our resolves and our words matter to us because they are expressions of our personality, reflections of our thought and conviction. This alertness fortifies our resolves and conviction. They take us into the zone.
All alert, we can produce our best. We must always be aware of what we are living for and what we should be and shouldn’t be doing. We reign supreme when we attain a high level of consciousness. Time comes when being in the zone gets ingrained. It becomes as natural as our breathing. There would be no slip-ups, no laxity and no loose ends. It takes quite something to achieve this level. However, if we persevere, we will get closer to it all the while.
The journey could be painful but pleasure awaits us at the end of it. Subjecting us to self-scrutiny is not easy. Not all can take heat of the process and find their journeys terminated abruptly. Each of us knows what’s best for one but doesn’t seem getting as immaculate as one is expected to be. It happens only when we practise what we believe in.
The guard is lowered the moment we forget the promices we have made to ourselves. It’s like snakes-and-ladders game all of us have played as kids. A slip up is like entering the snake’s block and rolling down. Every alert moment is hitting the ladder’s block and moving up.
Let us strive to get into the zone reminding us of promices we have made to ourselves. Let us remain in the realm where we are genuine and one with us; conscious of dreams we live to realise. In this bid, we cannot afford to step on to too many snakes’ blocks.
So, it’s decided. I will be extremely cautious to put my point across with conviction. I will make every moment count. After all, who doesn’t want to get into the zone?
